DUE TO PERSONAL CIRCUMSTANCES ON THE PARTS OF VARIOUS INDIVIDUALS AND THE IMPACT OF THE HOUSTON HURRICANE ON FAMILY AND FRIENDS AND MANY ACQUAINTENCES, ANY PLANS FOR A MULTI-CLASS REUNION 59-64 IN THE METROPLEX ARE IMMEDIATELY CANCELED.

HOPEFULLY WE CAN INSTEAD DIRECT OUR TIME, ENERGY,AND FUNDS TOWARD HEPING THE MANY PEOPLE AFFECTED BY THIS UNPRECEDENTED EVENT.  IT IS WORSE THAN WHAT CAN BE CONVEYED TO A TELEVISION SET IN OUR LIVING ROOMS.

WE HOPE THAT ALL OF YOU WHO ARE ABLE REACH OUT AND HELP THE BEST YOU CAN.

I HAVE RECEIEVED WORD THAT OHS 1962 CLASSMATE DON HAWKINS GOT HIT WITH A DOUBLE WHAMMY, A FLOODED HOME AND A CANCER BATTLE FOR HIS WIFE.  IF YOU WANT TO DONATE TO HIM, EMAIL ME AT THE ADDRESS GIVEN IN THE "CONTACT ME" SITE ON THIS WEBPAGE,    AND I WILL GIVE YOU A MAILING ADDRESS FOR HIM.  MLM

YOU CAN ALSO CONTACT BUCKY GEER BY EMAIL OR PHONE.  HIS INFO IS BELOW :

Good morning friends,

Drinking my morning coffee, enjoying my dry and comfortable home while watching the devastation of the south Texas and the misery created by Harvey.....I have been made aware of a desperate situation of one of our classmates and one of my dear lifelong friends and am compelled to relay the situation to you.

I talked to our old friend, Don Hawkins, who lives in Katy, Texas...just west of the Houston metroplex. Don is a retired Houston police officer, and has attended a number of our reunions in Odessa.  Two or three years ago their home flooded.....they had just completed repairs when Harvey arrived and they flooded again, but much worse this time...and without flood insurance.  During the fiasco of the past couple of years his wife, Loretta, contracted cancer and during the course of chemotherapy suffered devastating side effects that left her paralyzed below her waist and extremely weak.  At the present time she is only able to take a few steps and requires constant aid.....Don stays at home with her constantly.  And now...the flood.  Loretta is staying with neighbors and Don is trying to salvage their home...we've all seen the news reports and realize what is ahead for him.

So.....what to do?  I'm throwing this out to my friends and would appreciate your consideration.  I think his greatest need is cash, so we might consider a relief fund for him.  I thought I might bring this up at the reunion?  What do you think?  Feel free to email or call me, and you might forward this to other classmates.

Thanks to all,
